Mircea Geoană: Moldova's partnership with NATO could deepen
NATO is open to a deeper partnership with the Republic of Moldova, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geaonă told Radio Moldova in Vilnius. In this regard, the North Atlantic Alliance has received concrete requests from the authorities for certain projects it needs, he said.
"We sent a team earlier this year to Chisinau. A team that Romania has already taken advantage of as a NATO member. A team of top professionals on the resilience side, and the subject of resilience is one that our NATO leaders have now addressed. Energy resilience, cyber resilience, institutional resilience. So not just defence and security issues in the narrow sense. And the conclusions of this team of professionals from NATO, I believe that during this period they will be offered to the Republic of Moldova to study and we hope that from these conclusions will derive other elements of the partnership we have with the Republic of Moldova", said Mircea Geoană.
Earlier this month, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană said in an interview with the Romanian press that the chance to escape the tyranny of geography and the curse of history comes once, twice a century, and the Republic of Moldova must not miss this chance.
The head of diplomacy in Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, attended the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member states in Vilnius.
