Klaus Iohannis: NATO Summit decisions - an increased commitment to strengthening Moldova's resilience and security

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday that the decisions taken at the Vilnius Summit, as Romania had advocated, reflect NATO's increased commitment to strengthening Moldova's resilience, security and defence capabilities, Agerpres reported.

"At the Summit, we reaffirmed the need for enhanced NATO support for vulnerable partners, in particular the Republic of Moldova. In this regard, we called for financial support for the package of measures for the Republic of Moldova to strengthen defence capabilities and increase resilience. We have also announced a new financial contribution for Chisinau, which we will transfer to the NATO Voluntary Fund dedicated to this state," Iohannis said.

The Romanian President also indicated that strong support for deepening cooperation between NATO and Asia-Pacific partners and with the European Union will be continued.
