Nicu Popescu: The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns Russia's unilateral withdrawal from the Black Sea Cereals Initiative

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration from Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, condemned Russia's decision to suspend the extension of the Agreement for grain transport through the Black Sea. The official wrote on his Twitter page that the Republic of Moldova strongly condemns Russia's unilateral exit from the Black Sea Grains Initiative. According to Nicu Popescu, last night's bombing of the Odesa region, including the port, reveals Russia's tactic of using blackmail, depriving the vulnerable of food.

We remind that after the outbreak of war by the Russian Federation, Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea were blocked by Russian warships until an agreement, signed in July 2022 under the auspices of the United Nations and Turkey, allowed the passage of essential grain exports.

The Odesa region has three ports, which were part of the crucial world food deal that expired on Monday night after Moscow refused to extend the document.
