The eligibility criteria for social housing beneficiaries have been extended
Families in which at least one of the members is an employee of a budgetary institution or works in public services will be eligible for social housing. A bill to this effect was voted today in final reading. At the same time, the concept of "minimum subsistence" will be replaced by "minimum wage in the country" as one of the eligibility criteria.
"With this amendment, local public authorities in the Republic of Moldova will be able to provide housing for civil servants in critical areas and fill vacancies, contributing to the development of the regions," argue the authors.
At the same time, the draft also contains some recommendations of the Court of Auditors, which carried out a compliance audit on the implementation of the Housing Project for Socially Vulnerable Groups in previous years. In particular, these proposals relate to the special conditions for the termination of the tenancy contract, including in the case of identification of erroneous data submission or failure to inform the LPA about the change in the conditions that served as a basis for granting social housing.
During the two phases of implementation of the social housing project, 3,500 people from socially vulnerable groups were provided with housing.
