The 40th meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the GUAM member states was held in videoconference format.

The event marked the end of our country's holding of the current presidency of the organization. "The presidency of the Republic of Moldova within GUAM coincided with the organization's 25th anniversary, which allowed our country to renew its commitments to the organization's values and objectives," said Minister Nicu Popescu on his Facebook page. The head of diplomacy from Chisinau emphasized that the Republic of Moldova supported and continues to support the values on which the organization was founded, "especially against the background of the brutal invasion of Ukraine by Russia." "Our country, including in a regional format, has firmly condemned the war and remains in solidarity with Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democracy," Nicu Popescu added. The official emphasizes that the state will continue to take care of the more than 80 thousand refugees from Ukraine living in the Republic of Moldova and will do its best "to be a contributor to regional stability." GUAM is a regional organization that includes four states: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova.
