Petru Racu has reprofiled himself as a merchant
After ending his football career, Petru Racu is now fully dedicated to business. The former Moldovan international, who owns a company producing cold-pressed vegetable oils, is increasingly taking part in trade fairs to promote his brand and sell his products.
"Even during my career, I tried to be with the spectators, the fans. I like talking to people. I'm proud to have brought out a quality product on the domestic market that makes an important contribution to the health of people of different ages." says Petru Racu.
Racu has been investing in the production of cold-pressed vegetable oils for five years, and has a factory in Ghidighici. During this time, he has obtained national and international certificates, which help him sell his products in other countries. Racu says many things he learned during his football career help him in business.
"Everything in sports is about character and decision making that stays with you for life. Everyone knows that a healthy lifestyle trains a healthy character." says the former footballer.
Petru Racu played football for 16 years. He played for FC Norrköping in Sweden, Myllykosken Pallo-47 in Finland, FC Hjørring in Denmark, Neftci Baku in Azerbaijan and Petrolul Ploiesti in Romania, as well as for clubs in the Republic of Moldova. He won two titles with Sheriff Tiraspol and one with Milsami Orhei, he won the Moldovan Cup with Petrocub Hincesti. The defender played 50 matches for the national team. Racu says the decision to hang up his boots was a very difficult one.
"The decision to end my career didn't come in a day or two. Lately, I was taking a lot of time with my business and I decided to take this step, even though, thanks to my fitness, I could play a few more years easily, but now... Overall, I have a lot of positive emotions and I'm really proud of the career I've had." Racu adds.
Racu came with a message for Moldovan footballers, who have not yet decided what they will do after the end of their careers.
"I recommend all footballers to understand that career is not for life and to invest the money here at home." says Petru Racu.
In the near future, Petru Racu has set himself the goal of increasing exports of his products abroad.
