Anti-monopoly sanctions: Moldovatransgaz could be fined at least 10 percent of turnover
Gas transmission operator Moldovatransgaz could be fined at least 10 percent of its turnover. The National Energy Regulatory Agency has initiated the sanctioning procedure and ANRE directors will make their decision on 8 September.
According to Moldovan law and European commitments, no company in the energy industry can be vertically integrated. To ensure fair competition, the pipeline system must belong to an independent operator that offers access to the network to all suppliers.
Moldovatransgaz is the daughter company of the Moldovan-Russian company Moldovagaz. If it does not separate from it, the gas transmission network will be handed over to Romanian Transgaz.
Moldovagaz head Vadim Ceban said Moldovatransgaz had submitted all the information in time and that the company's management was ready to defend its position to ANRE in early autumn.
