Germany provides Ukraine with more air defense
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has thanked Germany and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for providing two more launchers for Patriot air defence systems, Agerpres reports.
"This is very important," Zelenski said in his speech on Saturday evening.
"Thank you. Thank you, Germany. Thank you to the people," he said.
US-built Patriot systems are particularly important to Ukraine because, according to Kiev, they have already intercepted Russian hypersonic missiles several times. Every strengthening of Ukraine's air defences means saving thousands of lives, Zelenski stressed.
In addition to air defence assistance, support for mine clearance is particularly important at this time, President Zelenski said. Because of mines and unexploded ordnance, some 174,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory are a danger to people.
