Moldovan President Maia Sandu responds to Russian Foreign Ministry's accusations
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has said that the relationship between Moldova and Russia has suffered dramatically since Russia invaded Ukraine.
The President made the comments in response to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which accused Moldova of taking an "unfriendly" move by expelling 45 Russian diplomats.
"I am sure that the number of Russian diplomats remaining in Moldova is sufficient to ensure quality services," Maia Sandu said. "In general, our relationship with the Russian Federation is suffering dramatically after Russia attacked Ukraine and is killing innocent people, destroying towns and villages in Ukraine."
Maia Sandu said that Moldova is committed to maintaining good relations with all countries, but that it will not tolerate any interference in its internal affairs.
"We will continue to act in accordance with our national interests and our international obligations," she outlined.
