Moldova's president stands with Ukraine, condemns Russian atrocities
Moldova's President Maia Sandu met with representatives of the Ukrainian community in the country and expressed her solidarity with Ukraine, condemning the Russian invasion and atrocities.
"Since the first days of the war, Moldova has been with the Ukrainian people and will continue to walk with Ukraine on the path of European integration," Sandu said.
The representatives of the Ukrainian community thanked Sandu for the openness and support shown by Moldova to Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their homes and country due to the Russian military invasion.
According to data from the General Inspectorate of Migration, about 100,000 Ukrainians have fled to Moldova since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
On average, 7,000 Ukrainian citizens cross the state border daily, according to data from the Border Police.
On August 24, Ukraine will celebrate 32 years of independence.
