Moldova to receive over $88 million in grant assistance from World Bank, US, Switzerland

The Moldova Parliament is holding an extraordinary session to consider a grant agreement with the World Bank, as well as financial assistance from the United States and Switzerland.

The grant agreement, which was signed on August 9, is worth over $88 million. It will be used to help the country cope with the impact of the war in Ukraine.

The Parliament is also expected to consider a draft law that would provide legislative tools to support energy-vulnerable households. The law would also provide more facilities for young professionals in the education system.

Other items on the agenda include draft amendments to the Law on real estate cadastre, the Law on preventing and combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the Law on state security, and the draft decision on the appointment of a deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Centre.

The last sitting of the spring-summer session of the Parliament took place on July 31, but according to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, Members may meet in extraordinary or special sessions at the request of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the head of the legislature or one third of the Members.
