Popescu addressed the assembled diplomats and government officials, emphasising the tireless efforts of various departments, including the government and the Ministry of Defense. He stressed the collaborative approach to projecting Moldova's societal needs beyond its borders, aiming to garner essential external support. "We are dedicated to sustaining Moldova's position within the realm of democracy, peace, and European values," declared Popescu.

With regards to recent developments, Popescu stated that there's currently no indication that the provision of consular services for Moldovan citizens in Russia will be disrupted. This assurance follows the expulsion of Russian embassy personnel, a matter awaiting Moscow's response.

Popescu acknowledged the need for cautious optimism, avoiding speculation while awaiting responses to Moldova's actions. "Our focus remains unwavering on the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the EU space, diversifying energy sources, and expanding export markets. Regardless of external opinions, we are committed to our nation's strategic objectives," asserted Popescu.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recently reduced the number of accredited Russian diplomats in Chișinău, citing espionage activities and destabilisation attempts. This move prompted the departure of 45 employees from the Embassy of the Russian Federation.

This development unfolded during a two-day gathering of ambassadors accredited abroad, convened in Chișinău to deliberate on diplomatic strategies and international partnerships.
