Moldova SSC discusses energy security

The Supreme Security Council of Moldova (SSC) met on August 17 to discuss the country's energy security and preparation for the cold season. The SSC agreed that the state will be able to deliver electricity and heat to citizens in the next heating season, regardless of the scenario.

The SSC members also agreed that the priority this year will be to purchase gas at the cheapest market prices and to build up sufficient stocks. They also discussed the measures taken by state institutions to ensure natural gas and electricity supply in the coming period, the progress of major energy investment projects and energy efficiency programmes.

The SSC stressed the importance of ensuring energy security for Moldova, and said that the government is committed to taking all necessary measures to achieve this goal.
