Sheriff conceded a goal in the 25th minute when Artiom Konțevoi opened the scoring. The team from Tiraspol turned the result around by half-time. Ricardinho and Henrique Luvannor each scored from the penalty spot. Sheriff let the victory slip through their fingers. In extra time, BATE Borisov equalised through Denis Laptev.

So, Sheriff qualified for the Europa League play-offs and will fight for a place in the group stage with Faroese champions Klaksvik. Tiraspol will play the first leg on 24 August away and the second leg on 31 August at home.

Qualification for the Europa League play-offs has secured their participation in the group stage of a European inter-club competition. If they get past Klaksvik, Sheriff will play in the group stage of the Europa League, and in case of a double-leg defeat, the Moldovan champions will play in the group stage of the Conference League.
