The courses are part of a national program approved for the years 2023-2025 and are open to both non-native speakers and refugees from Ukraine.

"We believe it's crucial to provide opportunities for non-native speakers, those who don't speak Romanian today, to learn it," said Education Minister Dan Perciun. "We're delighted that we've managed to allocate resources, around 10 million lei this year, to fund a national program for studying the Romanian language."

The courses began last month in 45 educational institutions in Bălți, Chișinău, UTA Găgăuzia, and Taraclia. The first phase of the program, which runs from July 3 to September 17, is for 2,500 participants. The second phase, from September 25 to December 3, will train an additional 4,000 people.

Upon completing the courses, participants will receive a certificate indicating their language proficiency level, in accordance with the provisions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
