Zelensky pledges response to Russian attack on Chernihiv, other cities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pledged a response to Saturday's Russian attack on the city of Chernihiv, which resulted in more than 150 casualties. The attack also damaged dozens of houses in the cities of Kharkov, Kikuev, Izmir, and Kupyansk.
In a statement, Zelensky said that he was "sure that our soldiers will respond to Russia's terrorist attacks." He added that the Ukrainian military is "beginning training on Western fighter jets to cope with the attacks."
Zelensky's statement came after he visited the Netherlands on Saturday, where he met with Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The two leaders discussed the possibility of Ukraine receiving F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands.
The Russian attacks on Chernihiv and other cities have been condemned by the United States and other Western countries. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the attacks were "a clear violation of international law" and that the United States would "continue to stand by Ukraine."
