Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Wagner group, killed in plane crash
A plane carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, crashed in Russia on Wednesday, killing him and nine other people on board, according to the BBC.
Russia's Civil Aviation Authority said Prigozhin was on the plane's passenger list, according to Tass news agency.
The Federal Air Transport Agency has launched an investigation into the crash, which took place in the Tver region.
"An investigation has been launched into the crash of the Embraer aircraft, which took place this evening in the Tver region. According to the passenger list, among them was Yevgeny Prigozhin's name and surname," the department said.
The plane was on a Moscow-St Petersburg flight with 10 people on board, three of whom were crew members. The Russian press also reports that Prigozhin's right-hand man Dmitry Utkin was on board.
