Gagauz People's Assembly must approve the Executive Committee within 45 days or be dissolved
The Gagauz People's Assembly in Moldova could be dissolved if two attempts to approve the composition of the Executive Committee fail by September 9, founder and editor of Nokta.md portal Mihail Sirkeli told Moldova 1.
The Gagauz People's Assembly has 45 days to approve the composition of the Executive Committee. If the Assembly fails to do so within the 45-day period, it could be dissolved.
The Executive Committee is the executive body of the Gagauz People's Assembly. It is responsible for carrying out the decisions of the Assembly and for managing the day-to-day affairs of the Gagauz Autonomy.
The Gagauz People's Assembly has not yet attempted to approve the composition of the Executive Committee. Therefore, there are currently no grounds for dissolving the Assembly.
However, if the Assembly fails to approve the composition of the Executive Committee by September 9, it will have two more chances to do so. If the Assembly fails to approve the composition of the Executive Committee on either of its next two attempts, it will be dissolved.
The dissolution of the Gagauz People's Assembly would be a significant event. The Assembly is the highest legislative body of the Gagauz Autonomy, and its dissolution would mean that the Autonomy would be without a legislature.
