Moldova's 32nd Independence Day celebrated with festivities in Chișinău
The 32nd Independence Day of Moldova is being celebrated today in Chișinău, the capital city. The festivities began with a flower-laying ceremony at the "Mother of Sorrows" monument at the "Eternity" Memorial Complex, led by President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
Later in the day, the country's leadership, members of the government, heads of state institutions, and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Moldova laid flowers at the monument to the ruler Stephen the Great in the centre of the capital.
The main events of the day are taking place in Chișinău's Great National Assembly Square. A concert featuring Moldovan military bands is currently underway, and there is also an opportunity for citizens to meet with the prime minister. There are also exhibitions of Moldovan culture and history, a children's art workshop, and a performance by the National Ballet "Joc".
In the evening, there will be a concert of Moldovan folk music and dance, a concert by Moldovan artists from the diaspora, and a performance by the National Moldovan Folk Orchestra "Lăutarii". The festivities will culminate with a traditional Moldovan dance.
