Ukrainian president says victory will help Moldova, Georgia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Radio Svoboda that he believes Ukraine's victory in the war with Russia will lead to the restoration of the territorial integrity of Moldova and Georgia, as well as democratic changes in Belarus.
Zelensky said that he envisions a victory that would prevent another war. "I would like such a victory that would prevent another war," he said. "A Ukrainian victory will allow a political solution for democratic changes in Belarus and a return to the territorial integrity of Georgia and Moldova."
The Ukrainian president said that if the Ukrainian army were to reach the administrative border with Crimea, this could create an opportunity to exert political pressure on Russia to demilitarise the peninsula. However, he said that he is sceptical about the possibility of military action being extended into Russian territory, as Ukraine would then risk losing the support of major powers and be left alone against the aggressor.
Zelensky insists on restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity to its 1991 borders, as stipulated in his peace plan.
