Russia intensifies missile strikes on Ukraine, killing at least three
Russian missiles killed at least two people and injured five others in a strike on a vegetable oil factory in the central Ukrainian region of Poltava on Monday, according to Ukrainian officials.
Andrii Iermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, said that the attack caused an explosion and fire at the factory in the village of Hoholeve.
"Two people were killed and five were injured in a Russian missile attack on a vegetable oil factory in the village of Hoholeve," Iermak said in a statement on Telegram.
Dmitro Lunin, the governor of Poltava, said that two people were killed and two were injured in the attack.
The attack comes as Russia has intensified its missile strikes on Ukraine in recent weeks.
On Monday, Russia also launched attacks on the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, killing at least one person and damaging homes and infrastructure.
The attacks come as Ukraine's military has made some gains in its counteroffensive in the east of the country.
On Monday, Ukraine said that its forces had retaken the town of Robotyne in the southeastern part of the country.
The war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, has killed thousands of people and displaced millions more.
