Ukraine airs documentary on air defence against Russia
A documentary about the Ukrainian air defence's resistance against Russian airstrikes will be aired in Ukraine for the first time this evening. The film is part of a series of documentaries produced with the help of the Ukrainian military intelligence service. It will also be released on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on September 7.
The film will feature the most significant episodes of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces' confrontation with the Russian air invasion. It will include stunning footage of the destruction of Russian aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and drones, as well as interviews with Ukrainian scouts, pilots, and anti-aircraft gunners, as well as the stories of Russian prisoners of war.
The film also reveals for the first time details of the most successful operation of the Ukrainian special services, code-named "Sinița" (titmouse). Thanks to the carefully planned and precise work of military intelligence officers, a Russian pilot landed a Russian Air Force MI-8 helicopter on Ukrainian territory. The pilot defected with the helicopter during a mission to transport components for Su-27 and Su-30 fighter jets between two air bases in the Kharkiv region. Two crew members who were not aware of the pilot's plan were also on board the aircraft.
The Russian pilot explained why he took this step: "No one wants this war. You'll see, when Ukraine wins, it's just a matter of time."
At the end of August, the Russian Mi-8 helicopter surrendered to Ukraine with the entire crew. This is the first time such a thing has happened. The Russians have reportedly declared the helicopter missing.
The documentary "Russian Pilots Shot Down" will be released on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on September 7, the day of the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service.
