Drone attack on Izmail port in Ukraine
Russia launched a drone attack on the port of Izmail in Ukraine's Odessa region on Monday, causing significant damage to infrastructure and setting fire to several buildings, according to regional officials.
"The vast majority of the drones were shot down by air defence forces," Gumeniuk said. "The exact number will be specified. Unfortunately, civilian infrastructure was attacked, houses were destroyed, and information about the people who were affected will be specified."
As reported by Hotnews.ro, the attack, which lasted for three and a half hours, also damaged warehouses and production facilities in the wider port area, as well as agricultural machinery, said regional governor Maksim Marchenko.
Izmail and Reni ports are essential for Ukraine's efforts to continue exporting grain through the Black Sea, after Russia blocked agreements that would have allowed for a safe corridor, guaranteed by Turkey and the United Nations.
