Two new candidates enter Chișinău mayoral race

Two more political parties have announced their candidates for the mayor of Chișinău, the capital of Moldova. Former socialist Vasile Bolea will run for the Renaissance Party, while the Home Building Europe Party has proposed Constantin Butucel.

The announcement about Bolea's candidacy for the position of general mayor of Chișinău was made by the president of the Renaissance Party, Natalia Parasca.

Currently, Vasile Bolea is an unaffiliated deputy in Parliament, after he withdrew from the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. He also left PSRM, after a visit to Israel where he met with fugitive Ilan Șor, and then joined the Renaissance Party, which has become more active after the issue of banning the Șor Party was raised.

Meanwhile, after announcing Tatiana Bordeianu, the head of the party's foreign relations department, as the candidate for the position of mayor on March 17, 2023, PACE today came up with a different name - Constantin Butucel.

“I want to bring Europe home, I want to be the one who will contribute to the transformation of this city. The city of Chișinău should become an example for everyone. Together, I know we will succeed. We all want to live in a European city with worthy aspirations and values,” said Constantin Butucel.
