Blinken visits Kyiv amid continued Russian attacks

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine, for an unannounced official visit, according to Ukrainian news outlet Unian.

ZN.UA, a Ukrainian news outlet, reported on September 5 that Blinken was expected to arrive in Kyiv on September 6, citing diplomatic sources. The US State Department has not yet officially confirmed the secretary of state's visit.

This is Blinken's third trip to Kyiv since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. He previously visited the Ukrainian capital in April 2022 and September 2022.

On the night of September 6, the Russian Federation carried out another airstrike on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. The air raid alert ended just a few hours before the arrival of the American official.
