New energy labels to help Moldovans save money
The Parliament of Moldova has approved several energy projects with wide social impact. One of these projects will modify the regulatory framework to make it easier to develop energy infrastructure projects with cross-border impact. This will allow projects to better access European funding.
Another project will require household appliances to be accompanied by labels containing information on their energy consumption, energy efficiency, and other relevant information. This will help citizens choose more energy-efficient products to reduce their energy consumption.
The introduction of energy labels is also included in the pilot program "Rabla electrical appliances" for the replacement of energy-inefficient electrical household equipment. This program will provide financial support of up to 80% of the cost of a refrigerator, electric stove, or washing machine for about 50,000 vulnerable families.
