US announces $600 million in new military aid for Ukraine

The United States announced on Thursday $600 million in new military aid for Ukraine, including de-mining equipment and various types of ammunition, according to AFP, as reported by Agerpres.

The aid is intended to help Ukraine "meet its needs on the battlefield" and demonstrates the United States' "unwavering support" for the country, the Pentagon said in a statement.

The new aid comes on top of the $1 billion in military assistance announced by the Biden administration last week, which included artillery, armoured vehicles, and ammunition.

The announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a surprise visit to Ukraine on Thursday. Blinken met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other senior officials to discuss the latest developments in the war.
