Recean expressed his appreciation for the EU's assistance in Moldova's defense reform efforts, which he said are essential to ensuring the country's security in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In particular, Recean noted that the EU is contributing to the modernization of the Moldovan Armed Forces through the European Peace Facility (EPF). The EPF provides funding for military equipment and training, and it has already allocated €12 million to Moldova.

Recean also said that Moldova is committed to strengthening its defense capabilities. In this regard, the government has increased the defense budget and increased the presence of Moldovan troops in peacekeeping operations.

"Moldova must be part of the European security architecture and can bring added value to this area," Recean said. "At the same time, strengthening the army to the highest standards is a vital component in the authorities' ability to defend the interests of our citizens."

Brieger reiterated the EU's support for Moldova's defense transformation, saying that cooperation between the two sides will be intensified in the future.
