Internal reforms will continue to speed up the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, says Nicu Popescu
During the three decades of diplomatic relations, the Republic of Moldova and Italy have managed to build a close and strategic link based on European values, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, at the joint meeting of the committees for foreign affairs of the Senate and of the Chamber of Deputies from Rome. The head of Moldovan diplomacy reiterated the Government's commitment to continue reforms at the internal level to speed up the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU about new opportunities for collaboration in the economic field and strengthening business partnerships.
“Also, I mentioned that we are facing several types of hybrid attacks in an attempt to destabilize our country, and the best tool in countering propaganda and disinformation is progress. European accession, the path chosen by the Republic of Moldova, represents this progress. We also discussed new opportunities for collaboration in the economic field and strengthening business partnerships", said Nicu Popescu.
The official also emphasized that Italy is one of the most important commercial partners of the Republic of Moldova, our trade amounts to around 690 million euros.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, is on an official visit to Rome.
Recently, the Italian Parliament adopted two resolutions showing support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. According to the document, since the first days of Russian aggression against Ukraine, our country has taken a position consistent with the condemnation of the European Union and started an internal process aimed at increasing its autonomy and independence.
