The Republic of Moldova purchased 200 thousand doses of seasonal flu vaccine from the Netherlands

The Republic of Moldova procured a batch of 200 thousand doses of seasonal flu vaccine from the Netherlands, for which it paid 20.5 million lei from the funds of the National Medical Insurance Company. The vaccine has been stored in the ANSP warehouse and will be distributed to hospitals in the country.

The vaccine is approved in the Republic of Moldova, and its composition corresponds to that recommended by the World Health Organization for the northern hemisphere, the 2023-2024 season, states CNAM.

According to the Ministry of Health, priority will be given to people with chronic diseases and compromised immunity, the elderly, pregnant women, medical workers, and employees of force structures.

Vaccination against flu can be carried out simultaneously with the one against COVID-19. Immunization will take place in October and November.

Last year, 1,980 people got sick with the flu, four of them died.
