USAID transfers 76.8 million dollars to the Government of the Republic of Moldova
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is transferring 76.8 million dollars to the Government of the Republic of Moldova for the reimbursement of record electricity costs in the 2022-2023 cold season, reads a press release from the institution.
According to the source, this money, transferred through the World Bank, is part of USAID's commitment to provide assistance of 300 million dollars to the Republic of Moldova to strengthen energy security.
"USAID will cooperate with its partners to ensure monitoring of budget assistance to guarantee transparency of all cost reimbursement processes. (...) Following Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine and the triggering of the energy and logistics crisis, USAID supported the Republic of Moldova for the consolidation of energy security and the establishment of partnerships with new suppliers of energy resources", reads the statement.
We remind that, in addition to this assistance, the United States of America offered support to the Republic of Moldova to respond to the economic, energy, security and humanitarian impact caused by Russia's war against Ukraine, while advancing the agenda of economic and democratic reforms.
