Moldova's General Prosecutor's Office seeks to lift immunity of two MPs
The General Prosecutor's Office of Moldova has filed five requests with Parliament to lift the parliamentary immunity of two MPs, Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi.
The requests are seeking the lifting of Lozovan's immunity in order to detain, arrest, search, and prosecute her for the alleged crimes of accepting funding from an organised criminal group and money laundering. Nesterovschi's immunity is being sought in order to detain, arrest, search, and prosecute him for the alleged crimes of passive corruption, accepting funding from an organised criminal group, illegal financing of political parties, and preparing to finance political parties from prohibited sources.
The requests have been sent to the Legal Commission, Appointments and Immunities, which will meet to discuss them at 1:00 PM.
