Zelensky visits Canada to seek support for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise visit to Canada on Friday, meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other officials.
The visit was aimed at strengthening Canada's support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. Trudeau and Zelensky discussed Canada's military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. They also signed an agreement to continue to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
"In close coordination, we will apply further economic pressure on the Putin regime until it respects Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, including in strategically important sectors for Russia, such as oil and gas," the Canadian government said in a statement.
Zelensky will address the Canadian Parliament on Friday, calling for continued support for Ukraine. He is also expected to meet with Canadian business leaders in Toronto to discuss ways to boost investment in Ukraine.
