Maia Sandu meets with Moldovan diaspora in New York
Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with Moldovan citizens living in New York on September 21, as part of her participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sandu discussed the reforms taking place in Moldova and encouraged the diaspora to contribute to the country's development. She spoke about the transformations underway in Moldovan society to ensure a modern healthcare system, energy security, and regional security.
"I spoke about the work we are doing so that one day Moldova will become a member of the European Union: judicial reform, harmonisation of legislation, alignment with European standards," Sandu wrote on her Facebook page. "I was glad to see many people who want to contribute to the development of the country even though they are overseas. I invited them to work together to ensure that Moldova is firmly anchored in the world of developed countries, with stable democracies and efficient institutions that generate well-being for citizens."
Sandu's visit to New York was part of a larger trip to the United States, where she also met with U.S. President Joe Biden and other world leaders.
