Moldova to launch "Boost for Moldova" program to support economy, citizens
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean on Monday presented the "Spor pentru Moldova" (Boost for Moldova) program, which is designed to support the economy and citizens of Moldova.
"The government has identified additional resources, with the help of our European partners, the United States, and international organisations. We will have a well-designed program that will provide assistance and income increases to multiple segments of the population, while also stimulating economic growth," Recean said during a briefing.
The program includes the following measures:
- A one-time payment of 5,000 lei for all teachers and 3,000 lei for non-teaching staff, including kindergarten workers.
- A 15% increase in salaries for all medical workers, including those at hospitals that are not funded by the National Health Insurance Company.
- A 22% increase in salaries for forensic doctors.
- A 352 million lei allocation to cover energy costs for schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and other state institutions.
The total cost of the program is 1.3 billion lei.
"The implementation of the program requires budget amendments, which is why it will be presented next week for approval in Parliament," Recean said.
