European Political Community Summit begins in Granada: The enlargement of the European Union, under discussion
The third edition of the European Political Community Summit begins on Thursday, October 5, in Granada. Kingdom of Spain. The meeting is attended by all the leaders of Europe, except Russia and Belarus.
According to Mediafax, European Union leaders will discuss the reform of the 27-nation bloc. It is about launching a long process of preparation regarding EU enlargement. The EU readiness deadline could be 2030.
On the list of countries that want to join the EU are Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Turkey, Kosovo and Georgia.
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is participating in the third European Political Community Summit, which is being held in the city of Granada, Kingdom of Spain. At the summit, which precedes the meeting of the European Council on October 6, also in Granada, the head of state will discuss with counterparts and leaders of the European Union institutions, about the challenges on the European continent, the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the community block and the reforms that are underway. This was announced by the Presidency a few days ago.
At the Summit of the European Political Community, 51 delegates announced their presence. The European Political Community represents an intergovernmental format of political dialogue between European states with the aim of cooperation on topics of common interest, in order to strengthen security and stability on the European continent.
The first meeting of the European Political Community took place in Prague, in October 2022, and the second, in June, in the Republic of Moldova, in Bulboaca.
