Klaus Iohannis: Romania supports the opening of EU accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine by the end of the year
Romania strongly supports the opening of accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine by the end of the year, President Klaus Iohannis said on Friday, in the informal meeting of the European Council, in Granada, Spain, which takes place simultaneously with the meeting of the European Political Community.
The enlargement policy of the European Union is of strategic importance, the President of Romania said, quoted by Digi24.
"In Granada, Spain, at the informal meeting of the European Council, where we focus on the EU's priorities for the coming years, our discussions will set the course for the EU's next strategic agenda. We will discuss major topics such as resilience and competitiveness, the EU's global commitment, migration to the enlargement of the Union," the president wrote on Twitter.
The head of state says that the next strategic agenda must be pragmatic and focus on achieving clear results.
"The EU enlargement policy is of strategic importance: Romania firmly supports a positive decision to open accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, until the end of this year," Klaus Iohannis said.
