Court of Appeal rejects Marina Tauber's appeal against exclusion from Balti local elections

The Court of Appeal (CA) of Chisinau has rejected as unfounded an appeal filed by Marina Tauber against the Municipal Electoral Council (CEM) of Balti No. 2, after she was refused to participate in the local elections in the municipality.

Marina Tauber was included on the list of people who cannot participate in the November 5 elections, drawn up by the Central Electoral Commission, after Parliament voted to amend the electoral legislation, which stipulated clear criteria for admitting candidates to the race.

Before the adoption of the criteria, MP Marina Tauber filed the documents in Balti to run as an independent for mayor.

The Court of Appeal's decision is subject to appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice.
