The government will allocate 4 million lei for the evacuation of Moldovan citizens from Israel and the Gaza Strip in the context of the state of war
The government will allocate 4 million lei from the intervention fund for the evacuation of citizens of the Republic of Moldova from the State of Israel and the Gaza Strip. The decision was taken as Israel declared a state of war on its entire territory on October 9. The draft decision was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, being proposed for public consultation.
According to official data, there are officially 13 thousand Moldovans on the territory of Israel, but unofficially their number exceeds 20 thousand. Since the start of the war, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Tel-Aviv, the Crisis Cell and the Call Center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have registered over 300 requests from Moldovan citizens in Israel.
Also, 35 people requested repatriation from the Gaza Strip.
In this sense, the repatriation actions will involve: the organization or contracting of charter flights, of land transport companies for the journey from the border with the Gaza Strip to Cairo, the provision of water and food to the citizens during the journey, the delegation of a consular official in Egypt for facilitating the whole process.
At the same time, we remind that during the state of war in Israel, all Moldovan citizens who benefit from the travel document issuance service will be exempt from the consular fee. A decision in this regard was taken by the Commission for Emergency Situations.
