The border and customs authorities of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will carry out a joint control at the "Novosavițkoe-Cuciurgan" rail traffic crossing point. An agreement was signed today in Palanca. The control will be carried out on the territory of Ukraine. The Prime Ministers of the two states agreed to organize joint control at seven other border crossing points, reads the Government's press release.
“It is an important step to increase processing capacity at our common border. It's another sign of solidarity in which we help businessmen from Ukraine to transit goods through our country to Romania and the countries of the European Union. I want to thank the teams that worked on this agreement, a concrete action through which we demonstrate that we can help the neighboring country", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean, quoted in the press release.
Dorin Recean and his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal participated online in the agreement signing ceremony. The Ukrainian official thanked the authorities in Chisinau, assuring that there are possibilities to diversify trade routes despite the aggression of the Russian Federation.
"I thank the Government of the Republic of Moldova for its firm support of Ukraine. Today we are taking the next concrete step to streamline rail traffic. The railway is of strategic importance for our bilateral cooperation. Ukraine is an important economic partner of the Republic of Moldova. We have all the possibilities to diversify trade routes to increase exports and to ensure the well-being of both states, despite the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation", concluded the Ukrainian Prime Minister. Officials agreed to sign by the end of 2023 the Protocols for the organization of joint control in 7 other Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing points.
Dorin Recean and Denys Shmyhal also discussed cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and trade, including in the context of the understandings agreed upon during the meeting of the co-chairs of the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, on September 29, in Odesa.
The protocol regarding the joint control at the crossing point for railway traffic "Novosavițkoe - Cuciurgan" was signed in Palanca by the management of the Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police at the quadrilateral meeting of the leaders of the Moldovan-Ukrainian customs and border authorities.
