Sandu, Pavel to discuss defence cooperation, economic development
The presidents of Moldova and Czechia, Maia Sandu and Petr Pavel, will meet in Prague on Monday to discuss a range of issues, including defence cooperation, economic development, and Moldova's path to the European Union.
According to a statement from the Czech Presidential Office, the two leaders will discuss ways to support Czech companies on the Moldovan market, including potential cooperation in the defence industry. They will also discuss ways to continue projects to transform and develop Moldova, including strengthening the country's energy independence.
Pavel expressed his support for Moldova's stability and pro-Western orientation. "At the same time, the Czech Republic supports Moldova on its path to the European Union and is ready to help it in the accession process and share its experience," the statement said.
In addition to their meeting at Prague Castle, the two presidents will attend a business forum and the 27th edition of the Forum 2000 conference, where they will give opening speeches.
Sandu will also visit the headquarters of Radio Free Europe, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, and meet with Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
Sandu's official visit will last until Tuesday, October 17.
