Moldova reaffirms commitment to democracy, freedom
President Maia Sandu of the Republic of Moldova reiterated today her country's commitment to democracy and freedom in a speech at the 27th edition of the Forum 2000 conference in Prague.
"I am here today with two messages," Sandu said. "First, democracy and individual freedom remain the guiding light at the end of the geopolitical tunnel for our both societies. Second, in their pursuit of freedom, these societies deserve our full support."
In her speech, Sandu also condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "We have hoped that the Cold War would end peacefully," she said. "That the Soviet Union and its territorial expansion would be confined to the history books. We expected our nations to continue their destinies without the constraint of Russia."
