The Republic of Moldova will receive about 400 million euros, within the Support Platform

The Republic of Moldova will receive more than 400 million euros to develop its key areas such as the energy sector, but also for the further implementation of the reforms necessary for EU accession. The announcement was made by the foreign ministers of France and Germany, during the 4th edition of the Moldova Support Platform, hosted for the first time by our country on Tuesday. More than 30 states and dozens of international organizations participate in the meeting, which aim to mobilize the necessary help in three main directions in the development of the country - budgetary support, the creation of an Infrastructure Fund and the Residential Fund for energy efficiency.

The event started at 8:00 a.m. when the delegations arrived at the Palace of the Republic. Several officials made statements before the start of the meeting.

"You need our assistance clearly, but also the political will to make many reforms. I watched the Republic of Moldova do this. It will soon be a member of the European Union", said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn. Before the official opening of the event, our country signed several memorandums and financing agreements between the Republic of Moldova and the partners participating in the Moldova Support Platform. These include the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.

The "Moldova Support Platform " started at 10:00 by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. At the beginning of his speech, Recean thanked everyone present for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and mentioned that there is peace and security in our country thanks to the fact that Ukrainians do not give in to the invaders.

"Your presence here is a testimony of solidarity and commitment to support the Republic of Moldova's democracy, economy and development. Today we met not only to discuss what was done, but also to set a course for a more prosperous, brighter and peaceful future", said Dorin Recean.

Afterwards, one by one, the co-founders of the Support Platform for Moldova, the representatives of Romania, Germany and France took the floor. The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, declared that the Republic of Moldova will financially support several projects, especially in the energy field.

"Through the Development Agency, we will boost activity with the Republic of Moldova to develop its energy sector and to bring it closer to European standards in order to complete the accession, so the proximity to the European energy network, 40 million are dedicated in this regard ", said Catherine Colonna.

The head of diplomacy in Paris mentioned that the French Development Agency will launch a project of 200 million euros for the next three years to manage natural resources and to combat climate change.

Germany will continue to financially support the Republic of Moldova for the implementation of reforms.

"We will continue our support in 2024 with a total value of 95 million euros," said Berlin's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. The General Secretary of State of Romania, Mircea Abrudean, stated that the Republic of Moldova is still exposed to the consequences of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, and the Moldova Support Platform and the working groups aim to respond to these challenges.

"Crucial elections are coming in Moldova, which come with specific pressures, which can bring instability and these destabilizations are expected. Respectively, the support offered to Moldova is necessary to continue prosperity and the European future", said Mircea Abrudean.

The event will end with the speech of the president Maia Sandu, followed by a conference, supported by the foreign ministers of the four countries - France, Germany, Romania and the Republic of Moldova. We remind you that at the previous meetings of the Moldova Support Platform, held in Berlin, Paris and Bucharest, our country received support for the compensation of expenses in bills, the granting of aid to farmers and the implementation of infrastructure projects.
