Moldova Support Platform // The US provides additional assistance worth about $90 million
The United States of America (USA) will provide the Republic of Moldova with additional financial aid in the amount of 88.6 million dollars. It will also include assistance for the modernization of the National Army. This was announced by the US delegation, represented at the Support Platform ministerial conference in Chisinau by USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Mark Simakovsky and Ambassador Kent Logsdon.
The aid "includes 30 million dollars in new military assistance from the US, totaling 45 million dollars this year, which will allow the Government of the Republic of Moldova to purchase new equipment for the modernization of the National Army", reads the statement of the US Embassy in Chisinau .
From February 2022 until now, the US assistance for humanitarian development and security granted to the Republic of Moldova amounted to 774 million dollars.
"The United States is dedicated to further strengthening our long-standing partnership with the Republic of Moldova for a more democratic, safer and more prosperous future," reads the statement.
International partners reconfirmed their support for the Republic of Moldova in the context of the economic and energy crises caused by the war in Ukraine, during the fourth edition of the inter-ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform, held in Chisinau.
The Republic of Moldova will be able to access more loans and grants to ensure energy efficiency, manage environmental issues and the natural gas crisis. The Ministers of Energy, Environment and Finance signed in Chisinau within the framework of the Support Platform five documents with several European financial institutions.
