The government approved new measures to mitigate the energy crisis
In today's meeting, the government approved new measures to alleviate the energy crisis. Thus, according to a press release from the Executive, the protection of socially vulnerable groups, security and energy efficiency of the country have been increased.
"Through these measures, the continuity and operationality of the Fund for the Reduction of Energy Vulnerability is ensured, the compensation mechanism is being improved, so that the state support is directed to the consumers most affected by the increase in prices", reads the Government's press release.
The EcoVoucher and Green House Programs, financed in 2023 by the European Union and piloted by UNDP Moldova, were introduced into the plan. They provide for the replacement of electrical household equipment with other, energy efficient ones, and the installation of photovoltaic systems in households.
Also, another component included in the plan provides for the obligation of natural gas companies to ensure gas stocks for the 2023-2024 heating season. Natural gas stocks on November 1, 2023 will have to correspond to a volume of 15% of the annual gas consumption.
