Japan will offer a grant worth 1.9 million euros for farmers in the Republic of Moldova
The Government of Japan will offer the Republic of Moldova non-refundable financial support in the amount of 1.9 million euros. The money will be directed to support small and medium-sized farmers, who are affected by the increase in the price of seed material, fertilizers and pesticides. In this regard, the members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission approved the report for initiating negotiations and approving the signing of a Grant Agreement.
"The grant of 1.9 million euros will reduce the burden on small and medium-sized farmers, affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine, by offering cheap financial solutions for the procurement of fertilizers", reads a press release from the Legislative. The grant is part of the project "Farmers Insurance with Fertilizers" will be offered until March 31, 2024, but the period can be extended.
After the negotiations, the ratification of the Grant Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Japan regarding the realization of the Project "Farmers' Insurance with Fertilizers" will be proposed for adoption in the plenary session of the Parliament.
