Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tihanovskaia said in an interview with the Russian-language Scaner show that the anti-dictatorship movement she leads is an alternative to the so-called "russkii mir" for the Belarusian people who need to return to their roots. The Chisinau Parliament formalized the dialogue with Democratic Belarus and created a friendship group. This movement is supported by at least half a million Belarusians who fled the country after the 2020 protests due to the regime's crackdown. However, the dictatorship will not last, Tihanovskaia hopes, and Belarus will follow in the footsteps of the Republic of Moldova towards the European Union.

"We see that the Republic of Moldova also has the ambition to become part of the European Union. Of course you will get that. We also have the same goal, but it will probably take us more time. You, however, will open the way for us. We will follow in your footsteps. Anyway, our future is together, in Europe. As Belarusians, we understand that we must return to our roots which have always been in Europe", claims Tihanovskaia.

The full interview will be broadcast on the Scaner show, Sunday, at 19:15.
