Chisinau and Kyiv signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral parliamentary relations

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Rada of Ukraine concluded a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed by the Parliament Speaker from Chisinau, Igor Grosu, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during the second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform, which took place in the Czech Republic, reads a press release from the Legislative from Chisinau.

The memorandum of understanding was signed with the aim of boosting bilateral parliamentary relations, including in the context in which both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine aim for European integration, after receiving the status of a candidate country for joining the European Union.

"The collaboration between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Rada of Ukraine will cover several aspects. These include supporting and promoting democratic values, fundamental rights and freedoms, stability and security in the region; improving the standards of legislative processes and procedures, which will allow the effective incorporation of the EU integration agenda and the intensification of cooperation with NATO. Also, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Rada of Ukraine will strengthen their efforts for more efficient management of possible crises and for the promotion of common interests in order to get closer to the European Union", reads the cited source.

In the context of strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, mutual visits will be organized at the level of the leadership of the parliaments, joint meetings of parliamentary committees and friendship groups, study visits and exchange of good practices, trainings, parliamentary conferences, etc. The actions will target both the body of deputies and civil servants.

We remind that, these days, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, is in Prague, where he is participating in the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform.
