Maia Sandu discussed with ENEMO representatives about ensuring transparent, free and fair elections
President Maia Sandu had a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), who came on the sixth mission to monitor the elections in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on ensuring a transparent, free and fair election, in the context of the November 5 local elections, the Presidential institution announces.
The head of state noted that the electoral legislation was improved, taking into account the recommendations of the EU Commission. Moreover, the head of state spoke about the risk of foreign interference in local elections, the problem of illegal financing of campaigns and attempts to corrupt candidates and voters. Maia Sandu urged observers to pay more attention to these actions, which aim to compromise free and fair elections.
We remind that on November 5, local general elections will take place in the Republic of Moldova. Over 60 thousand candidates were registered for the elections.
