Ukraine is preparing for winter. International donor organizations will distribute firewood to the people
As heavy fighting continues in the neighboring country, people in Ukrainian villages and towns are preparing for winter. Residents in the city of Sviatohirsk say that this year the government will not allocate money for firewood. In this situation, international donor organizations will help people.
"Here is the boiler, and here is the electric boiler. This one works and this one doesn't. We will use wood and the fireplace in the hall. It was repaired. Bullets hit here, I fixed it and changed it. Here it was damaged, we will fix it later. See how broken it is?”;
“I will put the fireplace in one room. I haven't closed the windows yet, because it's hot. We have everything for the winter, we received everything.";
"I'm going to throw out the armchair and put a table here. I'm going to buy an electric fireplace so I can cook food as well as keep warm.”
Residents of Sviatohirsk will benefit from help from international charities, which are ready to donate wood briquettes.
"We cooperate with 19 international charities. Some of them work exclusively during the cold season and are ready to help every household with wood briquettes. We want to make sure the heating season goes as smoothly as possible. We are preparing a temporary shelter for people without heating, so there will be light and heating there as well. We can accommodate about 100 people, but we can also organize something larger," says the head of the Sviatohirsk military administration, Volodimir Ribalkyn.
We remind that previously Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned that Russia will also try this winter to destroy Ukraine's thermoelectric system, as it did last year, when it launched massive bombings of essential infrastructures.
